Dreams, swords, games &c.

Damn I had an odd dream last night. Well, not exactly odd. I think it was almost normal, comparitively speaking from previous dreams I’ve had/related on this site. Basically it was bog standard Walking Dead-style zombie apocalypse but the survivor enclave I ended up in sent me out exploring with a horse, a manual camera (Brownie, Kodak Automatic, etc) and two saddlebags full of what amounted to newspapers. One for places I found with no survivors that I’d tack up to telephone poles and so forth kind of laying out what we were about and where we were, and another type for people I found that would do the same but with more detail. Pretty much trying to put civilization back together one survivor city at a time. That and using the 1900’s era camera to record everything I could incase there wasn’t anything to find and we ended up witnessing the end of civilization.

Yes, both my city and myself were heavily armed. We wouldn’t just sit there unprotected and lead people right to our doorstep.

Did I mention that kendo rocks? As it does, and so I think I’ve found my new martial art. Yesterday was “Take your shinai to work day” and I think today may follow in its footsteps. Turns out that though my house’s cieling is too low and the front/back yards are uncomfortable for various reasons, the gym at work is perfect. That and I can finally get some more weight training on without having to buy more weights or find a place for a bench.

The only problem is I’ll have to come up with a kickass battle cry for my shinkai. Somebody should go hit some quiz making site and do up a “What would your shinkai battle cry be?” I’m feeling lazy, and that’s a dynamite idea. This comes up because apparently my school is thinking about switching from the old “Wear some sweatpants” uniform to an actual Hamaka & jacket getup and well, sensei is thinking black.

We all know where black kendo uniforms lead.

I’ve started playing Castlevania: Symphony of the Night again recently. Damn I love that game. It has to be one of the finest (if not the finest) level-less platformers known to man. The knockback effect is a bit annoying, but the game is still as on top of everything a decade later as it was when it was fresh. Next I play Vagrant Story aka the biggest candidate for a rockin’ remake ever. Well, remake like Resident Evil for the GC not like Dukes of Hazzard.

Jessica Simpson as Merlose… Shudder.

Seriously, you can’t take the sky.

I’ll post some more later. For now, the largest (in output, not duration) sci-fi quiz of all time.

Mwah-hahahahahaha

Yeah. So its been a slow newsweek. I blame Tim pretty much exclusively. I mean who gives a copy of Evil Genius to me and then expects actual productivity? I’m lucky I’ve kept showering and bathing this week. I recently located a time ingame where no matter what you do you never attract enemy agents and can have henchmen stealing pretty much perpetually. So i’ve got a game at that point waiting and waiting for some obscene amount of cash. A think something quite a bit larger than… one miiiiillion dollars.

Oh yeah, its right before you snatch the maid. I’m basically getting the infrastructure just right for the rooms you start getting in the second objective. I want my hotel all functioning smoothly along with plenty of power and a nice fully staffed control room for the future. Everything fully expanded and waiting for new addon rooms. Then I make bank, then I go snatch that maid.

Yeah, Kendo was a winner, but that’s not much of a leap really. I mean swordplay for god’s sake! I’m learning how to swing a katana, and I’m getting an excuse to buy a shinai. What, pray tell, could be better?

Lets all welcome Jason to the fold. Now one of my roommates has a blog on here and I’ve started subletting. When will it end? I have no idea.

And on the subject of friends of mine, Chatty I’ll get my address to ya. E-mail or somesuch.

I’ve been watching a new anime recently. Bleach is still amazing and Naruto is honestly losing my attention. Its just too kiddy for me anymore. Bleach is all the shonen one dude will ever need, and the wimpiest character there is logarithmically more badass than any Naruto character. But I digress. I’ve been catching fansubs of Mushi-shi. From somebody who’s watched the first two eps, I can say it is rockin’ like Dokken. Just pure Japanese-folklorist ghost-investigatin’ gold. Don’t take my word for it, go check it out today!

EXTENDED BODY:

I am 84% Evil Genius.
Evil to the Bone!

I am pure evil. I lie awake at night devising schemes of world domination, and I will not rest until all living souls bend to my will.

Speaking of creepy shit, check out the cincinnati mummy lady. That’s the Cincinnati Enquirer too, not the National one. That sort of crap gives me the Jibblies hardcore.

I am not a lego maniac, apparently. I just like ‘em. I couldn’t make a Babbage-style difference engine out of ‘em or anything. Damn that is impressive.
