The times they are a… something

Yup, I’ve been busy over the last few weeks. Mainly in vacation-from-school mode but mostly in doing whatever mode, ya know? Over the break I proposed to my longtime girlfriend (8 years or so) and yeah, she accepted. No, we haven’t set a date. I’m going to finish school and wipe out my bad credit/high car insurance issues. I know, it is a little bit like that Simon and Garfunkle tune where they keep putting off having fun until they die, but I am 25 and barring insane circumstance (rising dead?) everything should be cool.

Last week I found a place in Columbia SC that teaches kendo so I’ll finally be getting back to the martial arts. I find out this thursday if the school I’ve found is a good or bad idea. Other than that I’ve been very slack in the working out dept. I stick to my schedule 2 or so days a week. I really need to actually do the working out thing if i expect not to get silly kinds of out of shape.

Thanks to a friend of mine I’ve got 7 seasons of Top Gear on DVD and damn but I love that show. I’m honestly thinking about subscribing to their magazine. I mean where else can you go for crazy British wit, artsy photography, and kickass supercars.

Recently I’ve taken to drawing maps. I’m not terribly artistic (my perspective needs work, and my line quality leaves more than a little to be desired), but maps and architectural plans are just fine. Jason keeps telling me I need to DM once in a while with all these location I keep drawing, but I have too many kickass character concepts to sit behind the desk. Also, I’m damn bad at doing new things. Really self-concious and all that jazz.

And Chatty. You are way too badass. Seriously. I cannot thank you enough for the books. The Blame! is rockin’ (why did it take so long to translate? There’s something like three statements in the book), the Brust is the last of his I haven’t read, and the Murakami I’ve been looking at for quite some time. My hat (were I to wear one) is off.
